St. Cloud, Minnesota
March 5, 1921-November 7, 2015
A Memorial Mass celebrating the Life of Lila J. McIntyre, age 94, of St. Cloud will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Lila passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015, sur- rounded by her family at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial of the Urn will take place at Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, all at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
Lila was born on March 5, 1921 in Sebeka, Minnesota to Arthur and Hulda (Putikka) Mattie. After graduating from Sebeka High School in 1938, she earned her teaching degree from St. Cloud Teachers College. Lila began her career in 1942 in Kingston, followed by a year in Plainview. She married Peter G. McIntyre on August 31, 1946 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. She continued teaching fourth grade in the St. Cloud School District 742 at Garfield and Westwood Elementary until her retirement in 1986. She received her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State University in 1968. Lila was a member of the St. Cloud Retired Educator Association of Minnesota and Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, gardening, local and international travel, and crossword puzzles. She especially treasured the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Gary) Anderson of Minneapolis, Patty (Jim) Henry of St. Cloud, and Sue "Susie" (John) Weitz of St. Cloud; nine grandchildren, Allan (Kari) Anderson, Alia (Noah) Tobin, Karen (Seth Babbbitt-Samson) Anderson, Beth (Matt Murphy) Henry, Laura (Adam) Iten, Danny, Emily (Devin) Christiansen, Peter (fiancée, Julie Kustermann) Weitz, and Jill Weitz; great-grandchildren, Kian, Kayden, Kamdyn, Lily, Ava, Kaycie, Ryan, Isaac, Elliot, Ingrid, Anthony, and one on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Nora Wright and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter in 1968; and sister, Helen Bergman; brothers-in-law, Mark, Dale, and Pep.
A Special Thank You to the Staff at both St. Benedict's Senior Community and Quiet Oaks Hospice House for the loving care given to Lila during her stay.

I sent my Aunt Elna (Ontonagon) Obit 15Nov to Friend Sirkka in Finland, so she naturally thought it perfectly
"Cricket" send me Lila's, since daughter Kathy has been Sirkka's friend since the early 1970s. For Sirkka, Lila has been part of Sirkka's extended family. Given that we've corresponded with Sirkka since 1970s Military-DC service, that Kathy a friend of a friend, with consideration due, though sight unseen.

Dear Kathy, Patty and Sue, when thinking about your Mom I immediately go back to the time you all visited us in South Dakota, especially our trip to Mt. Rushmore. And my visits to your house in St. Cloud. Your Mom had a smile and a gentle nature I'll never forget. I know you'll miss her, but remember how blessed you were to have such a special Mom.

Dear Sue, My mother enjoyed the times that our mothers shared together. Your mother was so good to Karen, Jodi, and others. Your piano music was enjoyed by all. Our mothers were a special gift given to us to enjoy for a long time. How lucky we have been.
