Pearl Caroline Larson was born on February 3, 1926 in Eagle Bend, MN to Oscar and Huldah (Ek) Olson. She was baptized on June 10 at Esther Lutheran Church of Parkers Prairie, MN and was confirmed on August 4, 1940. She attended Parkers Prairie High School, graduating in 1944. Immediately following she worked at Midland National Bank, downtown Minneapolis until August 12, 1946 when she married Duane Larson. They lived in and around Bertha, MN, where all of their children were born. In 1968 they moved to Cold Spring, MN, where they have resided since. In 1973 Pearl attended the American Floral Art Design School in Chicago, Illinois and later that fall opened the first flower shop in Cold Spring. She named it Spring Floral Shoppe. When later she sold it, the new owners renamed it Cold Spring Floral, which it still remains. In 1981 she acquired her insurance license and was a district representative for Aid Association for Lutherans, which is now Thrivent. She retired in 1990. She and her husband have traveled extensively since then. Pearl was an avid seamstress, among things she has sewn is a quilt for each of her children and each of her grandchildren. She entered two of them at the Minnesota State Fair. She loved to play cards, especially bridge, she was a charter member of the local "Meals on Wheels" program, an excellent pie maker, and former Lioness member and volunteered at her church and community. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage. She reveled in the laughter of her grandchildren all of whom she knew well and kept close contact with, even into their adulthood.

Survivors include her husband, Duane; children, Randall (Jill),  David (Roberta), Dean (Deborah), Ronald, Carolyn (David), Pamela (Scott) Howard, Cheryl (Kenneth) Norman, Gregory (Michelle); twenty-one grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Westad; Brother, Rev. Oliver Olson and Wife Pat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, Lawrence Westad.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church or Quilts for Missions in Cold Spring, MN.

I remember always feeling welcome at cousin Pearl's home. There was always so much energy and love there.

I just yesterday ran across some Christmas letters from Pearl. They are full of family and friend news, gatherings, celebrations and love. At the core of that love was Pearl's love of Christ. Last year, my wife, Patty, and I traveled through Minnesota and Parker's Prairie. We visited with cousin Ruby and her kids. The visit had been so long in coming that we were all but strangers. But when we got to looking over pictures I pointed to a family gathering picture at Pearl's and said, "That's what I remember! Happy smiling faces!" Ruby beamed at the memories as well. From that point on, the years faded and we talked about the life and family we were blessed with. Here's to the Olsons, the Larsons, the Westads, the Eks and all their offspring! May God bless them one and all. And here's to the day we all sit at the Lord's table and celebrate together once again. The Lord keep you, dear Pearl!

Pearl was a lovely, warm and classy woman who will be sorely missed. Unfortunately for us with our being so far apart geographically, we cousins did not grow up and spend time with each in our young years. Finally, we did meet and it was an instant friendliness and open arms to me and Mickey.
We send our deepest sympathy to Duane, their children, grandchildren and loved ones for their loss of this great lady.

We send our condolences and sincere sympathy in the home-going of your dearly beloved. May the many happy memories you share bring comfort at this time of loss. We are praying for you as you process your grief...grief because things will never be the same as they once were. However, we know she loved the Lord and is now in His presence...and that brings joy in the midst of sorrow. Lots of love

I remember Pearl as a woman who always had time for her children, and her children's friends! I remember when Cheri and I were College roommates at Concordia St Paul. We took a weekend and went up to their cabin for a weekend break and Pearl brought us fresh donuts from the Cold Spring Bakery in the mourning. Man, did she surprise us!

She taught her family this same amazing kindness. Thank you Pearl, for your kind words when they were needed, your soft shoulder when required, and even your stern redirection at times. You were a blessing to all who knew you and you will live on through the family you raised.
