Sophia Bieniek, 87-year-old resident of Bowlus, MN died Saturday at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 18 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bowlus Community Center in Bowlus, MN with Father, Michael Kellogg and Father, John Odero con-celebrating officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may gather from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service at the Community Center on Wednesday.
Sophia Kromarek was born May 9, 1925 to the late Vincent and Agatha (Bieniek) Kromarek. She grew up in the Scranton, North Dakota area and attended Bowman Township, Country School. She was united in marriage to Thomas Bieniek on October 30, 1948 in Scranton, North Dakota. In 1951, the couple moved to Bowlus, MN, where they made their home for 61 years. Sophia was a homemaker raising her seven children. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, puzzles, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Conrad (Evelyn) Bieniek of Bowlus, MN, Marene (Ray) Peterson of St. Joseph, MN, Pat (Rita) Bieniek of Bowlus, MN, Louella (Mark) Eichers of St. Joseph, MN, Linda Pick of Rice, MN, Joy Bieniek of Waite Park, MN; Timothy (Janel) Bieniek of Bowlus, MN; siblings, Louie Kromarek of Bowman, ND, Katherine Maliscke of Bowman, ND, Stanley (Annamarie) Kromarek of Belt, MT and Roy Kromarek of Scranton, ND; grandchildren, Christina Borlik, Jeremy Pick, Jason Pick, Heather Botten, Ryan Bieniek, Tracy Sterling, Nicole Bieniek, Dustin Eichers, Corey Eichers, Gary Peterson; 8 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Bieniek on September 27, 1998; siblings, John Kromarek, Pete Kromarek, Stella Heick, Frank Kromarek and two infant siblings.
Casket Bearers will be: Jeremy Pick, Jason Pick, Ryan Bieniek, Dustin Eichers, Corey Eichers, Gary Peterson.
Honorary Casket Bearers: Christina Borlik, Heather Botten, Nicole Bieniek, Tracy Sterling.
Arrangements for Sophia are with the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN.
