Steve Schroer passed away last month following a year-long battle with pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer.  Originally from St. Cloud, Steve graduated from St. Olaf College, received his law degree from Columbia University, and his LL.M. (Master of Laws) from the University of Cambridge. He worked as an attorney with Faegre and Benson in Minneapolis from 1978 until 1996. From 1989 to 1995, he was one of the lead attorneys representing the fishermen and landowners in the Exxon Valdez oil spill trial that earned a $5 billion punitive damages verdict, the largest in U.S. history at the time. From 1996 to 2016, he worked as a lead attorney in the intellectual property field with Fitch Even out of Chicago. Steve enjoyed sports and was a supporter of the arts, being involved with the Minnesota Golf Club, the Minnesota Rugby Club, and the Bach Society of Minnesota. He moved to Boulder, Colorado in 2001.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Rolly and Paula Schroer, and his sister, Susan Schroer Feeder. He is survived by his sons, Bridger (age 19) and Colter (age 16), whom he adored, and he loved to travel the globe with them. A private celebration of his life will be held in Boulder in the spring. Memorials may be made for his sons' educational opportunities c/o Wells Fargo to the Steven C. Schroer Trust, or to the St. Olaf College Choir Robe Fund.

We called him "Ibby" in grade school. We were fond of him then and I feel sad that he passed as our 50th HS reunion is coming this August. We will miss him
