Buddy was born July 31, 1931 in Shelby to the late Russell and Alta (Billman) Roberts. Bud was a proud US Army veteran, serving from 1949 thru 1952 in Germany and Austria during the period of the Korean Conflict. Buddy spent the bulk of his post military career working for Miami Systems (Shelby Business Forms) until his retirement in 1993, after 31 years of service. Prior to that, he graduated from DeVry Technical in Chicago studying TV repair, worked as a tv repairman for Stroup & Cornell TV Repair. He also worked at Wilkins Air Force Depot.

Buddy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was very involved and served on numerous committees. He was an active volunteer with the F.I.S.H Food Pantry and the Shelby Helpline for 20 years. Buddy received a Jesse Rath Award in 2000 for his great volunteer work.

On November 15, 1953, he married Joan (Feller) Roberts and she survives. Also surviving are three children: Rhonda Roberts of Gahanna, Renae (Sid) Eskridge of Valrico, FL, and Radell Roberts (Claire Bobrycki) of Syracuse, NY; granddaughter: Abby Eskridge; siblings: James (Sandi) Roberts and Joanne Bland both of Shelby; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Buddy and Joan were also blessed to be "adopted" by Raina Pfahler, Brad Rudd, and Brooke Hostetter as surrogate grandparents in recent years.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his siblings: Eugene Roberts, John Roberts, Paul "Pork" Roberts, Tom Roberts, Gladys Roberts, Betty Seaton, Irene Eggleson, Esther Williams, Mary Jane Pollock, and Nancy Shelton.
