Arthur Sullivan Obituary
He was raised in Southie and Dorchester and graduated from English High with the Class of 1952. One day in 1952, Art walked by the Air Force recruiter's office, stopped in and signed on as a Cadet. He earned his Wings of Gold in 1955 and started flying the F-86 Saber Jet before being brought into the SAC world where he flew the B-47 and B-52 aircrafts during the Cold War Era. Art left the Air Force 1n 1964 and signed on with TWA where he captained the 727, 707 and 747 aircrafts. He retired from TWA in 1988.
In his early retirement years, Art was an active member of the Exeter Lions Club, the Portsmouth Elks and American Legion Post 35 of Hampton. He was also a faithful parishioner of the First Congregational Church of Hampton.
He was the husband of the late Laura Ann (Gillis) Sullivan who passed away in 2008.
Family members include his daughters, Susan Blatchford and her husband Robert of Barrington and Katherine M. Sullivan of Burlington, Mass. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Kristen and Lauren Blatchford.
SERVICES: At Art's request, all services will be private and burial will be beside his dear wife Laura in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be mailed to the Hospice Help Foundation, 155 Fleet St., Portsmouth, NH 03801 or made online at www.hhelpfoundation.org. Susan My heart is broken. I'm so very sorry I know how close you were to both your parents. I have so many fond memories of your mom and dad. They were another set of parents to me. I will miss getting your dad's funny emails. Love to you and your family.
