Jim LaBranche Obituary

KITTERY, Maine - Jim LaBranche Sr., passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016, with his family at his side after a sudden illness. He spent the last week of his life at home looking at the water and watching the boats from his favorite place in the world. He leaves behind a family that always adored him and sought his advice while knowing and enjoying his keen sense of humor.

He leaves behind his wife Betty LaBranche, daughter Penny and husband Mitch Latva, daughter Nicole and husband Kingman Yee, grandchildren Andrew Walters and wife Jessica, Sawyer Latva, James and Maezie Yee. He also leaves his sister Linda Jordan, brother Mike LaBranche and wife Pauline, and his sisters in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his son James LaBranche, Jr., on December 26, 2014.

His life was always full of family and friends and his many interests. He was an avid boatsman, and being captain of his boat "The Branch Office" brought him hours of joy. "The Branch Office" was used as his get-away condo in Marco Island, Fla. He was an excellent photographer and enjoyed painting. He was a golfer - although not a serious one. He loved to travel and enjoyed many trips including several islands, Italy, France, and Greece. Just four weeks ago he was traveling with dear friends and his wife in Spain.

He was a graduate of New Market High School, New HampshireTechnical Institute, and CMS Real Estate School. Throughout his life he had three careers - first in tool design at Northeastern Tool Company, then as a builder and commercial property investor, and eventually co-owner of the Betty LaBranche Real Estate Company. He was a man without an enemy in the world, and was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and beautiful smile.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. Michael's Church, Exeter. Burial followed in the Exeter Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hemochromatosis Fund at http://www.hemochromatosis.org/give or the David Barrows Adventure Fund, c/o Greater Piscataqua Foundation, 440 Market St., Portsmouth, N.H., 03801.

HI Betty: ; Although I have been gone from NH for quite some time, I always will remember the incredible customer service attitude of your Jim.....whenever over the years I would call your office, if Jim answered the phone, I knew he would carry through. He was a people's person.....a gentle soldier in the trenches of real estate day after day. He was your rock and so devoted to your success, as my Walter was when he was alive.

I wish you peace and God's hand on your shoulder as you move through these difficult days.

Best regards, Sandy Domina
