Lori Thayer Obituary

KITTERY, Maine - Lori Ann Thayer (Meuse) (Levoy) of Kittery, Maine, formally of Reading, Mass., was born on July 13, 1963. She passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on Friday, June 24, 2016, while visiting the Seattle, Wash., area; a part of the country in which she loved to be.

Lori graduated from Reading High School in 1981 where she met her husband of over 34 years. She was a long time employee of Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, N.H. Lori loved her family and friends, the ocean, the moon, the elements of the earth, her cats, watching movies, history, a stormy day and traveling to Hawaii, San Diego, the Pacific Northwest, and Washington DC. She loved spending time at her antique colonial home, and she was an open and friendly person, with a big heart.

Lori loved to cook and bake. She kept hundreds of cookbooks from all over the country. She would sit and read the cookbooks like novels learning everything the book had to offer. Her favorite places were Fort Foster, Pali Lookout, Victoria's Inner Harbor, Salem on Halloween night, riding a ferry across Puget Sound and curled up on the couch during a mid-winter snow storm. There was no one more proud of her daughters and grandson than Lori. She never missed an opportunity to talk about them and show off their pictures. Lori was quick to make friends and speak with strangers. She touched the hearts and souls of many people. More important to her, many people touched her heart and soul. She spoke of those special people often.

She is survived by her husband Trevor of Kittery, Daughter Megan, partner Travis Smith and grandson Chase all of Dover, Daughter Caitlin of Portsmouth and partner Joshua Jackson of Amesbury, Mass., also by her mother Shirley (Meuse) Levoy of Stoneham, Mass., three sisters, Lisa Mancini and husband Rob of Billerica, Mass.; Lynn Rauseo and husband Michael of Winchester, Mass.; Carleen Amasya and husband Sid of Cornelius, N.C., along with many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

SERVICES: We will be honoring Lori's life at a celebration on Thursday, June 30, from 6-9 p.m., at the Strawbery Banke Museum Visitor Center, 14 Hancock Street in Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in honor of Lori's memory to Strawbery Banke Museum, www.strawberybanke.org.
