Madelyn Fremeau Obituary

KITTERY, Maine — Madelyn M. Fremeau, 86, of Betty Welch Road in Kittery died Friday, March 7, 2008, at Langdon Place in Dover, N.H., following a short period of failing health.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Fremeau Guay and her husband Robert of Kittery, their children Ryan Guay of York, Kevin Guay and his wife Katherine of Kittery and Katelyn and Kimberly Guay of Kittery; a son, Gary Moore Given and his wife Pamela of Biddeford and their children Jocelyn Lydon and her husband Sean of Dayton, and Brett Moore Given and Kara Given both of Biddeford; a daughter-in-law, Margo A. Given of San Antonio, Texas, and her children Brent Given and his wife CeCe and Dr. Brian Given and his wife Dr. Tami Given, all of Texas; her grandchildren, Robert Fremeau, Liane Fremeau and David Fremeau; six great-grandsons, Blake and Cord Given of San Antonio, Texas, Parker and Noah Given of Kerrville, Texas, and Tyler Lydon of Dayton and Jackson Guay of Kittery; as well as many nieces and nephews.

WE REMEMBER: The widow of Edward Fremeau Sr., Madelyn was born April 29, 1921, and raised in Auburn as one of 10 children to Frank P. and Winnifred (Barrett) Moore. Madelyn graduated from Edward Little High School with the class of 1939. In 1950 she moved to Kittery and in 1952 married Edward Fremeau Sr., and together they raised a family and made a home for more than 45 years until his death in 1996.

She enjoyed many types of handywork including sewing and crocheting, she enjoyed making and delivering handmade mittens to the Footprints Food Pantry in Kittery for those who needed them, one winter leaving 85 pairs of handmade mittens.

Her greatest love was unquestionably her family.

Madelyn was predeceased by her son, Ronald J. Given of San Antonio, and brothers and sisters, James Moore Sr., Cecil Moore, Archibald Moore, Gertrude Murdock, Margaret Pinette, Thelma Morris, Barbara Jordan, Arlene Berube and Dorothy Morrison. She also leaves behind her niece Leslie Fabian, RN, and the other loving caregivers at Langdon Place in Dover, who provided her with such wonderful care.



SERVICES: A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904, with a memorial service and committal prayers to be held at the Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel in Auburn at 12:30 p.m., with the Rev. Fr. John Skeehan officiating.

Friends may visit with Madelyn's family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to Footprints Food Pantry, P.O. Box 246, Kittery, ME 03904.

Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home.
