Michael Boutet Obituary

WELLS - Michael Robert Boutet, 67, of Wells, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 after a long battle with brain cancer (glioblastoma). Michael died like he lived: with grace, courage and dignity.

The adopted son of Robert and Ruth Boutet, he was born in Biddeford on October 13, 1949. He lived in Ogunquit in his youth, attending Wells/Ogunquit schools and graduating from the Hinckley School. The sea was in his blood early. He lobstered and fished with his dad and later in his own boat. He also ran the boat as a charter before changing careers to build, renovate and remodel homes in York county. He was a skilled finish carpenter.

A man of many interests and hobbies, he will be remembered for his love of fishing streamside, mostly for salmon. His favorite spots were the Salmon River in New York and the Miramichee in New Brunswick. He was excellent at tying flies, with emphasis on luring salmon. In New Brunswick, he was also able to feed his desire to learn about and be with Native American lore and people. He loved visiting Indian grounds with gifts of sage and other offerings. Other loves included NASCAR, motorcycles, cribbage, animals, and coffee at 5 a.m. with friends.

His friends, a multitude, will speak of his kindness, generosity, and peaceful aura. He was quite proud to have celebrated 21 years of sobriety with AA and of helping many others achieve and maintain sobriety. We will all miss him, especially his significant other of four years, Trisha Wilson, the love of his life.

A Celebration of Michael's life will be announced at a later date, where all will be invited. To share a memory or leave a message of condolence, please visit Michael's Book of Memories Page at www.bibberfuneral.com. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk.

Was going through my hats and clothes closet and have a Ruth Bee fishing hat and a Ruth Bee Crew I keep
In sight every time the fishing gear closet is used which is quite often. My Wife and I fish fresh water frequently in our boat so seeing the Crew gear often is a Great Reminder what a Great person Mike was. Lots of great times with him on and off the water!!! Still miss him.

One of many memories I have with Mike is sitting in Jackie´s at Perkins Cove with my wive myself and Mike and talking about being adopted as we both were. Comparing how fortunate we both were to have great parents who brought us up and taught us well. That´s one of many memories we have of Mike Boutet he will never be forgotten!!

My wife and I enjoy Maine very much and still think of ALL the great times I shared on The Ruth Bee 2 with Micheal and guests. I still have hats and t shirts very visible in my fishing closet from Mike as a reminder what saltwater fishing was and is all about!! May he Rest In Peace!!!

We do not know one another but I wish to express my condolences for your loss. I too know that losing someone so special and with such fine qualities truly saddens the heart. I have found comfort in the thoughts expressed at Jeremiah 29:11-12 which says "I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, thoughts of peace and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope. And you will call me and pray to me and I will listen to you." My hope is that you too find the same comfort. My deepest condolences to you all.

So sad to hear of your passing. I remember the good times we had playing kick the can in your front yard or riding your go cart, and camping out back. you are missed.

Sorry to hear of Mike's passing. His many talents paid off as I met him working for FEMA. Always a pleasant smile and always accommodating.

Michael was my cousin, one month younger than me. When we were little, I used to wish he could be my big brother...until I realized that I was older, and I didn't want another younger sibling:). Uncle Bobby and Aunt Ruth hit the jackpot when they adopted Michael, and I know he felt the same way. He was a good guy.. It makes me happy to know he found Trish who brought so much joy to his life and that he had so many dear friends. Rest in Peace, Michael.
