Miriam A. Gaudette

EXETER - Miriam A. Gaudette, 82, died Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, N.H. She was born January 17, 1935 in Quincy, Mass., daughter of the late Leo Alfred Gaudette and Alice (Finn) Gaudette.

Miriam grew up in Epping and Exeter, N.H. She earned a BA degree in Education and her MA degree in Reading from Emmanuel College in Boston, Mass., and also graduated from the Certified Advanced Graduation Studies Program (CAGS) from the University of NH. Miriam spent several years as a Sister with the Sisters of Notre Dame before changing careers into elementary education. Miriam began her very long and gratifying career in education as a teacher in Newburyport, Mass. She spent many years at the Centre School in Hampton, N.H., as both a teacher and principal. Her last employment was at the Ossipee Central School as a special education coordinator. Miriam was a longtime resident of Exeter, Hampton and Hampton Falls, N.H.

Her hobbies included extensively reading, traveling to Europe, taking care of her yard, swimming and collecting and studying Egyptology. She also loved music and truly enjoyed her time as a member of the St. Michael Church and their choir.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Leo Gaudette Jr., Paul Gaudette, John Gaudette and Nancy Richardson.

Miriam is survived by her nephew, Thomas Gaudette, and his daughter, Calee Gaudette, one niece, Rebecca Adams.

SERVICES: Graveside services will be held on May 10, 2017, and 9:30 a.m., at the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, N.H. A Memorial Mass will follow on May 10, at 10 a.m., and be celebrated at St. Michael Church, 9 Lincoln St., Exeter, N.H.
