FORT MILL, S.C. — Mr. Quentin Roosevelt Boston, 81, of Fort Mill, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at his granddaughter's home after a short illness, surrounded by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia (Beem) Boston; their children, Rhonda Mandato of Dover, N.H., Lynn Boston of Revere Beach, Mass., Pamela Wright and husband Phil of Norfolk, Va., and their sons Nick and Adam, Christopher and Norma Boston of Rennsaelear, N.Y., and daughters Nikki, Brandy and Barbara, son-in-law Russell Herbert Frye II; grandson Russell Herbert III; granddaughters Wendy and husband David Fanta of Fort Mill, Meagan Tribunella of Webster, N.Y., Susan Candiloro of New York, Mary and Ronald and Ronnie Romano of Webster, N.Y.; his great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Reed of Fort Mill, and Cameron Wyatt Tribunella of Colorado; two special nieces, Eileen Williams of Barrington, N.H., and Rosalie Patch of East Barnsted, N.H.; and his beloved dog, Chloe.

WE REMEMBER: He was born in Eliot, Maine, the son of the late Almon and Florence Pearl Hooper Boston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Boston Frye in 2001, and his son, David Quentin Boston in 1981; and 10 siblings, Elijah, Richard, Adrian, Morris, Elsie, Phyllis, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Florence and Robert.

He lived in South Berwick most of his life, except for the years he spent overseas during World War II, where he proudly served in the Merchant Marines and in the Army Service Forces. He attended school at the one-room schoolhouse on Emory's Bridge with his brothers and sisters and later at Berwick Academy. "QB" was a volunteer firefighter for the town of South Berwick for many years and was a friend to many. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1984 after 15 years of service.

He and his wife, Virginia, retired to the Villages in Lady Lake, Fla., in 1987, where they had lived happily for the past 21 years. He was a staunch Republican who enjoyed golf, reading detective novels, doing crossword puzzles and their visits back to South Berwick to see friends and family. After a recent illness, they moved to their granddaughter Wendy's home in Fort Mill.

SERVICES: Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the First Parish Federated Church, 150 Main St. (corner of Main Street and Academy Street), South Berwick, Maine, with the Rev. Donna Lee Muise officiating. Burial will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery the following day. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service. Mr. Boston,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served during WW II and secondly for the citizens of South Berwick when you served as a Volunteer Firefighter. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Virginia and Family: I was deeply saddened to read about Quentin's passing in the Foster's. Many years have passed since I last spoke with either of you. Quentin was a very nice person to know and be around. My deepest sympathy to you and all your family members.

To the Boston Family. My husband and I grew up in Farmington,N.H. and for a short time Quentin, his brothers and sisters lived with their parents on School St just a few houses away from I lived with my parents and siblings. I particularly remember Quentin and Adrian and was sorry when they moved from Farmington. In recent years I learned that they were related to Carl Boston who married my cousin Kathleen Corson. Our condolences.

To the Boston Family
Our thoughts are with you at the passing of QB. I remember all the fun we had at the SB Fire Dept and the Field days and the parties.
Always remember the good times with all.
