Richard Willey Obituary

Richard "Rick" A. Willey, age 62, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017.

He was born in Biddeford, Maine and grew up in Kennebunkport, Maine. He attended the Consolidated School (grades K-8) and graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1974.

After completing high school, Rick joined the United States Navy and was stationed in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area. After successfully completing his military service as a Machinists Mate, Rick decided to make Norfolk, and later Suffolk, Virginia, his residence.

After completing his service in the U.S. Navy, Rick was employed by NORSHIPCO in Norfolk and in 2003 began his employment with Massimo Zanetti Beverage (MZB-USA) in Suffolk as a Maintenance Mechanic.

Rick enjoyed country living, hunting, and was an avid auto racing and football enthusiast.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Barbara Leighton Willey and Nelson L. Willey Sr., of Kennebunkport and Arundel, Maine, wife Julie, and his infant great-nephew Finn Murphy.

He is survived by his brother, N. Laurence (Larry) Willey Jr. of Bangor, Maine and his wife, Lorna; their children, Ezra and his wife Sara Jean, Josiah, and Monica Willey, in addition to a great nephew, Eli, and two great nieces, Lola and Dahlia.

Rick is also survived by his sister, Kathleen "Kathy" Willey Marshack of Irvine and San Diego, California; her children, Adrianne and Jared Marshack, wife Katy, three great-nephews Beckett, Cael, Caleb and a great-niece Hanna, his uncle and aunt, Thomas and Vi Willey, of Kennebunkport, Maine, stepson Josh Kufleitner of Youngstown, Ohio, longtime companion Beverly Bowers, in addition to many close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 16, at RW Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA 23434.

Rick will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will remain in our hearts forever.
