Virginia Charles Obituary

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia R. Charles, 86, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009.

She was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Boston, Mass.

Virginia was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a faithful Catholic throughout her life and most recently was involved in the resident's council of Luthor Manor. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Eggleton and husband Bill, and Evelyn "Evanne" Baynard and husband Tom, all of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, David Eggleton and wife Julie, Julie Howell and husband Nathan, Jennifer Maguire and Jessica Munoz and husband Luke; six great-granchildren, Nathan Eggleton, Presley Maguire, Caleb Howell, Virginia Howell, Annabelle Eggleton and Hunter Eggleton; two brothers, John Lombard and Ralph Cragin and wife Beverly; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius "Nick" Charles; sister Evelyn; and brothers Tom, Charles "Buddy" and Paul.

SERVICES: A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Parish in the Immaculate Conception Church, 98 Summer St., Portsmouth, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA. 23452. Condolences may be made to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
