Carol and Family
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this trying time. I regret that we will not be able to attend services in Washington but please let us know if there is anything we can help out with. Newt was top notch in our book. He always had a smile on his face every time he brought guests to our lodge. Please find comfort that the Lord has a better plan for Newt.

When I was a little boy about 6 or 7 growing up in Dillingham I was very much impressed and excited about the prospect of someday being like my grownup cousins who flew airplanes. Newt made a great impression on me. I would hear and see him fly what my dad called "The Lockheed" a twin tailed twin engine airplane with very loud engines! Over the years I new about Newts illustrious flying career but hadnt seen him in 30 plus years. In 2011 I took my first trip to Dillingham in many many years. I met Newt and Jerry in the L&M supply. He introduced himself and we had a pleasant conversation for a few minutes. He impressed me as really enjoying his time flying and hanging out with his brother Jerry. I didn't have a chance to fly with him in the Widgeon but it was certainly on my list of things I wanted to do when I returned. Meeting up with my Pilot cousins that summer was a true highlight of my trip and glad I didn't miss the opportunity.

I loved Uncle Newt very much and feel very blessed that he was my Uncle. He will be greatly misses and I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven! May Jesus come back soon! All my love to Aunt Carol, Denis + family and Marisa. I love you all and my prayers are with you. Love, Julie & Kaspar + kids

Newt was always so grown up and important when I was a little cousin growing up in Alaska. Then, when I got to academy, Linda invited me to go to California with her parents and visit Newt and Carol. Their children were delightful. I had a grand time. A couple summers ago, when I was in Dillingham--after fishing Bristol Bay, Newt invited me to fly in the plane from the airport in Dillingham and land on the Lake in Aleknagik. That was such a thrill. I hadn't done that for about 40 years. I was impressed that he was so thoughtful to ask. That was probably the highlight of that summer. I thought, "This is amazing. This plane is a car, airplane and a boat. . . all in one. Thank you for being that man we could respect and enjoy. My heart goes out to you, Carol and the family! May God comfort you.

This little online guest book is a wonderful way for us all to express our thoughts and feelings to you Carol, Dennis, and Marissa. It even has a collection of "suggested entries" when words fail us. But that's the point...words fail us at times like this. No words can fully capture this experience. So, please, in behalf of all the Carr's know that our hearts are with yours.

Carol, I was so sad to hear the news. I will never forget the time he stepped in to include me at Gary's service. He was always a rock and did the right thing. I know you must be devastated at the loss. You two were such an awesome couple and did so much together. You and your family are in my prayers. I'm so so sorry and so so sad. I wish I could join you this weekend but it is just not possible. I know my three children will be there and I'm glad for that. Carol, you know this brought back memories of the plane crash long ago. Nobody should have to endure this pain. I have been thinking of you daily. So glad I got to reconnect in Ekuk a couple of years ago. Sincerely, Diana Brown

Hi Carol,
I am so sorry at your loss of Newt! I have always admired the two of you and loved hearing stories from Alaska told by the relatives, Newt included.
I am sorry too that I will be unable to attend the memorial for him this weekend due to a previous engagement out of state.
Love you and hope to see you at one of the family reunions!
