Arthur Loring Obituary
Arthur Putnam Loring, Jr, passed away December 21, 2016.
Arthur was born in San Diego November 16, 1933. He was the only child of Marg and Art Loring. He graduated from Point Loma High School and the University of California, Berkeley. He joined the Marine Corps Aviation, flying F9's, A4's, A6's and several private plane types.
Art married Anne Freuler in 1964. Their USMC journey included two 13 month solo tours in Vietnam, many moves across the country and 4 years together in Italy. Art retired the USMC in 1980 and came to the Northwest to work for Boeing specializing in the 777.
He retired from Boeing in 1996 and in 2000 they moved to Fall City, Washington where Art pursued his long time passion for model railroading and designed and built an extensive train layout. Art was also an active member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He built and flew the RV8 and helped with a RV12.
Art is survived by his wife, Anne; three daughters: Linda L. Shaw (Darren), Liz L. Phillips (Clint) and Victoria L. Sawyer (Steve) and 6 grandchildren: Kirk, Blake, Abigail, Ben, Emily and Annabel.
A family service at Tahoma National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to USMC Support Group, PO Box 84444, Seattle, WA 98124-5744.
