Bernice Currie Obituary

Bernice (Bee) Beebe CURRIE Bernice died peacefully on March 4th. Born in Anacortes, WA, on April 17th, 1915, Bernice was the daughter of Dora O'Fardhy and Franklin Beebe. She was admitted to USC at age 15 - the youngest ever at the time, where she stayed two years before moving in with her father, a forest ranger in the Cascades National Forest. One of the first forest rangers, a mountain and a creek in the State of Washington are named for him. She lived at Granite Creek for four years, and was known as "The Belle of Granite Creek" by the CCC boys who worked in the area." She moved to Seattle to work, and World War II broke out. Friends introduced her to Jack Currie, a Naval Airman, and they were married three months later. Twins John and Judy were born in 1945. Bee and Jack enjoyed a wonderful life together for more than 50 years, and spent each winter after his retirement, traveling around the United States with their cat and trailer, and spending lots of time in San Diego. Bee is survived by son John Currie, and daughter Judy Mood and son-in-law Rob Mood, as well as wonderful cousins Marilyn and Gerry Peterson, Phyllis Weber, David and Russell Simonson, Virginia Hawley and Orville and Donald Hawk, in Bellingham, WA. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, 1005 SW 152nd Street, Burien, WA, the Rev Elisabeth Seeger officiating.

I have to laugh because I was just in Yosemite and I came across a "Travels with Farley" book which is a comic that used to run in the SF Chronicle-there was a comic where Farleys mom vaccumed the trail, and in a nutshell that was Bee-We were up at Rockport State park camping with the boss and Bee and we were sitting by the fire having the cocktail hour and out of boredom I was whittling-I think John me and the boss went somewhere and Bee dustbusted the campsite-she was a tidy person and I have many great memories of her "The Belle of Granite Creek"
