My deepest condolences to Bill's family. I had not seen Bill for well over 40 years but will never, ever forget him As a young rookie in the newspaper advertising business, I had the good fortune of calling on and meeting Bill when he first opened the Hancock Fabrics stores in Seattle. He was so much more than a client but a wonderful friend.
What I remember so well was not only his intelligence and intellect but his smile, laugh, sense of humor and compassion for others. His stories from his early childhood throughout his adult life that he shared with myself and so many others were legendary.
During those years, Bill was like family to myself, many other friends and my own immediate family. I had the good fortune of knowing his wife Mary, the kids when they were small and now so many years later, it just seems like yesterday.
Bill was truly one of a kind and wherever he was, his presence was felt and he made each and every occasion a worthwhile one.
