Mom, you have always been sweet, creative, kind and selfless. I am so blessed to have you for my Mom! Thank you for sharing all your faith, wisdom, stories and life experiences. You taught me the words of God, showered me with love and hope and inspiration. I learned it is important to know the golden rule and never tell a lie or take what does not belong to you! I share your love and respect of nature, wildlife, and all living things, like feeding and watching birds and squirrels! Any event or time spend with you is wonderful - curled up on the couch, watching an old movie, looking at the snow falling with just the Christmas lights on and a fire blazing, eating your potato soup or a tea party, picking daffodils, huckleberries, or blueberries in a meadow, gathering colorful eggs from Grampa Gus' hens, getting fresh honey from Gramma Pearl's bees, swimming and fishing in rivers, seeing the pride and enjoyment you have when you watch or talk about all your grandchildren and their families, you find happiness and joy in simple heartfelt things! I will never be able to list all of my favorite reasons for looking up to you and loving you because it is everything about you that makes you so amazing. When I was small you called me your little shadow because I followed you everywhere and when you would sit down I would plant myself down and chatter in your ear so much that you would have to move and I would plant myself on the other side of you and talk that ear off! I may not be able to follow you around any more, but my talks won't stop!! I'm a luvva luvva luv you Mom and miss you very much. Rest in peace and sweet dreams! Dawn Marie

I was both shocked and saddened by the news of Carley's passing. My prayers are with the family. I will always remember the " extended family feeling" on 9th ave. we always knew there was a "mom" somewhere watching our every move.

Cousins and adventures are some of my best childhood memories. Dennis and Dean and Jim and Carley (Dawn showed up a little later) are prominent characters in those memories. My attempts to recreate similar memories for my sons is part of Carley's legacy. I believe it worked out well; I can hear it in my sons' laughter.

We are deeply saddened by Carley's passing and our love and prayers go out to the Ryckman family. We were truly blessed to have the Ryckman family as neighbors for so many years and we shared so many laughs and good times. Carley initiated so much of that laughter. We know that God will keep and protect her and she will live on forever in our memories.

To our mom:
Your passing has left us with sadness and sorrow and there are things we wish we had said while we still had the chance. So as you look down from heaven….
We thank you for always loving us no matter what. No mistake was ever so bad that you did not forgive and forget.
We thank you for loving our kids as though they were your own. They still feel your love and presence.
We thank you for surrounding us with love and care throughout our lifetime.
We thank you for all the years of laughter and fun….for the pizza nights, game nights, tea parties… We thank you for your ability to make every holiday and event joyful and memorable.
We thank you for your spontaneous opera singing that always brought a smile to our faces.
We thank you for accepting everyone for who they are; no matter what they said or did.
We thank you for wrapping packages that were always too pretty to open.
We thank you for your signature potato salad and baked beans that no one has ever come close to matching.
We thank you for your generous spirit and your tender heart. You gave so freely to those who shared your life and you left “heart prints” on everyone that you touched.
We thank you for putting us first above all others, including yourself.
We thank you for the numerous sacrifices you made. We never did without and that was a testament to you.
We thank you for the role model that you were. We hope to be half the person you were.
And most of all we thank you for being you. God blessed us with an angel. We love you mom and are going to miss you so much. Love - Dennis, Dean and Dawn

As I read the other tributes to Carley, I can see her smile and hear her laugh. As part of the 9th ave group of families, I remember many days when Carley and our mom Carol, would get together (over Winchell's donuts) and share many, many laughs while Dawn and I listened to the top 40 or swapped books or plotted ways to annoy our older brothers. Carley was a gentle soul with a big heart who always had a kind word. I hope the many memories and laughs will sustain the family in these most difficult of days.
Hugs from across the miles....

I still have fond memories of our years on 9th Ave, playing baseball out in the street until long past dusk. A fine neighborhood and fine neighbors. Rest in peace Carley.

Carley believed in each and every one of us.Unfailingly. And she loved us unconditionally. How could we then let her down? We will miss her long hugs, her impish smile, her practical advice, and all the kindnesses that she offered so spontaneously. We are lucky to have received such love and we won't forget you Carley.

At times like this words seem so powerless but I know how much you all loved Carley and how much she'll be missed. I know she's up there smiling down on all of you. Marjie
