Daniel Garnett Obituary

Daniel Garnett, MD

Dr. Daniel Garnett was born on August 21, 1942 and passed away on November 1, 2017 Dr. Garnett was a retired surgeon who practiced in the Seattle area for 39 years. He received his BA in philosophy from Dartmouth College and then earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also proudly served in the USN attached to a marine battalion during the Vietnam War. After completing his surgical training at Swedish Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Garnett started his surgical practice in Ballard and was honored to have served as Chief of Staff of the hospital.

Dr. Garnett loved all things baseball, fly-fishing and reading; his greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his wife Stephanie A, his children, David and Michael, their wives Julianne and Stephanie M, as well as 5 grandchildren, Danny, Natalie, Anna, Kamryn and Jackson.

Reading was always a great passion for Dan and during his 3 year battle with cancer, reading provided him great pleasure. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in his name to the Seattle Public Library Foundation (foundation.spl.org), it would be greatly appreciated. There will be no services per his request.
