David Clark Obituary

David A. Clark

Loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, mentor, golfer and friend. David A. Clark, age 58, died on June 27, 2017, after a short and unexpected illness.

Dave was the owner of David A. Clark Architects, PLLC, a firm that specializes in working with cities and municipalities throughout Puget Sound as well as other commercial and residential clients. Those who worked with him praised him for his attention to detail, his superb ability to listen, and his "Nordstrom-like service" from him and his staff. The firm will continue to operate and will carry on Dave's legacy.

A proud native Texan, Dave was born in Houston and grew up in Arlington. The youngest of five siblings, he is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington. Growing up in a scouting family, Dave became an Eagle Scout. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, he was known for his Southern manners, his brisket and his biscuits. Golf was another passion, and he was surrounded by amazing friends who have golfed with him for years. He had one hole-in-one in his lifetime-playing on a Sunday in his Church golf tournament with his pastor in his foursome. Talk about Divine intervention!

Dave was also the author of A Man's Rules.....Platitudes From a Dad. 100 Rules for Young Men to Live, Learn and Laugh. While he had many favorite rules in his book, the one he seemed to quote most often was Rule No. 1: Never, never, ever buy her a present with a cord.

Survived by his wife, Susan; son, Alex (Holly); parents, Bill & Jeanine; brother, Mark (Dee); and sisters, Eileen (Allen), Becky (Buddy), and Susan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his godsons, Jaren and Nick.

A celebration of Dave's life will be Saturday, July 15th, at 1 pm, at Kent United Methodist Church, 11010 SE 248th St., Kent, WA 98030.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Providence Mount St. Vincent Foundation, 4831 35th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98126 www.providence.org/themountdonatenow.

You left us far too soon. Your legacy will live on, and we will strive to make you proud. While we miss you here on earth, we know you are now free of pain.

Just learning about this in 2024......a heartbreaking lesson in never allowing oneself to become out of touch with those we care about. My love to Susan; I´d like to reconnect if you are willing.

I knew David since he was a child. He always impressed me a someone that would be a wonderful friend and a success in anything he chose to achieve. He will be missed by all that ever knew him as well as his loving family. I know that he was welcomed in Heaven. His uncle Raymond took his passing very hard. Our prayers go to his family and friends. Sorry that we are not able to attend the memorial.

I knew Dave in high school. Have not seen him since then.
We ran in different circles but I remember Dave as being a nice guy.
I also remember him being a very smart kid that you just knew was destined to be successful. It's always surprising and sad when I see news of one of my old classmates passing. It was way to soon for Dave to leave this earth but the timing of such things are purview of a higher power.
May God bless his family and friends during this difficult time.

On behalf of the City of Renton family, please accept our sincere condolences. Dave's imprint on Renton will be with us for years to come. Every day as I walk the halls of City Hall, or enter the Valley Communications facility, or spend time at Maplewood Golf Course, I am reminded of Dave, as he designed all of those facilities. He was always such a pleasure to work with, and I will always be grateful for his personal friendship, as well as our professional relationship. Thank you for sharing him with us.

It was my great pleasure to know and work with Dave for over 20 years. His fast wit, humor and sense of what is right made him someone very special. I hope he finds the best small ball course for eternity. Goodbye friend, much too early.

I did not know Dave but if my friend, his precious wife Susan, chose him for her life partner he had to be a fine human being. Praise God for this man's life and continued prayers for the family.
