David Hasson, AIA

David Hasson, proud Garfield High School and University of Washington School of Architecture graduate, died Friday, November 2nd 2018 at the age of 81. Survived by his beloved wife, Michele, extraordinary daughters Tama (Jeff Westbrook), Bonnie (Chris Overington), Shannon Mills (Mike), grandchildren Joshua and Sarah Overington, and Ivy Westbrook. David was predeceased by his parents, Bona and Albert Hasson and is survived by brothers Robert, Eddie (Marguerite), Victor (Tel Aviv, Israel), sister Marilyn Henry (Bob), and many nieces and nephews.

A passionate handball player, there was nothing David liked better than his three-day a week matches with his gang. He had the best 'kill-shot', it was said. His architecture career spanned 55 years, including property management and condo development. Best of all were the years at Casa Amigos in Sayulita, Mexico where he indulged a lifelong love of ceramics.

David served on the boards of Planned Parenthood, the Pike Place Market Foundation, and WAC Handball Club.

We are deeply saddened by David's passing. Our utmost condolences to you, Michele, and to David's daughters and all his family. As David's secretary for many years I knew firsthand of his deep and genuine love for his family. You were so fortunate to have had him. I enjoyed having him in my life, too, especially appreciating his sensitivity, his artistic talents, and his sense of humor. Doug worked with him, too. We are remembering him today and wishing you Peace.

It is with profound sadness that I learn of David's passing just two weeks before a planned visit to Seattle.

He was two years ahead of me in architecture school and was a guide for me, an immigrant, in helping enlisting me in the Army Reserve and later in inviting me to join his architecture firm and introducing me to handball.

I send my sincere condolences to his family and kin, and indeed to all who knew him and who appreciated his sense of humour and steady realism.
