Edward Cushman Obituary

Edward L. CUSHMAN Ed passed away quietly and unexpectedly at his home on November 1, 2006 at the age of 88. He was born in Marshall, Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota, where he graduated in architecture. He moved to Seattle in 1943, initially working for several architectural firms, including John Graham and Associates. He later went into private practice and was a well respected architect, designing homes and commercial buildings throughout Seattle. Ed was very active in political and civic organizations and a member of Temple Beth Am. Prior to a stroke, which left him partially paralyzed when he was in his 50's, he was an active ors. Ed enjoyed collecting art and had a large collection by Northwest artists, which he, his friends, and family enjoyed in his home. He gifted important works from his collection to the Seattle Art Museum and was a longstanding member of the museum's Legacy Club. Ed leaves behind his family, including his sister Marcia Raskov of Seattle, who now resides at the Kline Galland Home; his nephew Eugene S. Hurwitz, M.D. of Atlanta, Georgia and his children, Jeremy, Julie, and Andrew; his sister Mollie Keller, of Havre, Montana and her children Marcia, Cheryl and Doug. He also leaves numerous lifelong friends and his devoted caregiver, Alisi Lino and her family. All who knew him will miss his intellect and warmth and his determination which allowed him to overcome adversity and lead an active life despite his handicap. Memorial services will be held in Ed's home, on Sunday November 5 at 1:30 pm. Donations may be made to a charitable organization.
