Glendon Hutchins Obituary

Glendon Charles Hutchins

June 19, 1938 ~ October 18, 2012

Glen passed away in Bellevue, WA with his family by his side. Born in Barre, VT to Stanley Hutchins and Glenna Tillotson Hutchins, Glen spent his early years in Graniteville and East Barre, VT with his Tillotson grandparents. At age 10, he moved to Roxbury, VT with his mother and stepfather, Frank Rice. There he met the love of his life, Regina (Jean) Nadeau, whom he married in 1959. Graduating from Northfield High School in 1956, Glen went on to earn a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Tri-State College in Angola, IN, in 1960.

Moving to New Hyde Park, Long Island, NY, Glen was employed by Sperry Gyroscope as a Field Engineer. In 1961, the company sent him to Bremerton, WA. After a beautiful summer and enjoying the weather, Glen and Jean decided against a transfer back to the East Coast. Glen secured a position in the Defense Dept. at Boeing, where he remained for 33 years before retiring in 1995. Glen and Jean made their home in Bellevue, raising their two sons, John and Chris, with whom Glen shared his love of hiking, classical music, history and steam rail engines. An avid reader and music lover, Glen amassed a large collection of books, records, tapes and CDs. Glen is survived by his beloved wife, Jean, and his sons, John and Chris; their wives, Mary and Wendy; grandchildren, Scott, Sara and Trillian; great-granddaughter, Athena (all of the greater Seattle area); mother, Glenna Rice; and sister, Shirley Tetreault, and her family of NH; as well as many others in VT, NH and ME.

There will be a casual gathering at his Bellevue home to celebrate his life on Sat., Nov. 10th, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Rest in peace, Glen. We will miss your dry sense of humor, generosity, kindness, and your love for your family. We will love you always.

Something Dad said to me that has always been so very true. "Son, ya' never know where your breaks are going to come from... and for that matter from who." He could be elusive and crafty. Never dull. You did good dad, you did good.
