Gudrun Frechin Obituary
Gudrun Loyland Frechin, 96, passed away peacefully on September 10th, 2016 in Shoreline WA. She was born to Andrew and Gina Loyland on November 29th, 1919 in Grand Forks, ND the first of seven children. After graduating from Grand Forks HS in 1937, she attended State Teachers College in Mayville, ND to receive her teaching certificate in 1940. Before WW II she moved to Bremerton WA to be closer to her sister Adelaide. She worked at Nels Loyland Jeweler in Bremerton during this time.
She married Donald P. Frechin in 1942 and they had 49 wonderful years together until his passing in 1991. They raised seven children , first living in West Park Bremerton WA then N. Lafayette St. Bremerton WA. In 1951 they moved to Illahee WA where they lived for 13 years. In 1964 they moved to the Victory Heights neighborhood of Seattle WA where she kept the family home for 52 years. Gudrun was a loving mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking and presiding over family holidays and birthday celebrations. Gudys interests were cooking for health, gardening, furniture refinishing and her elephant and doll collections. In retirement she loved the widows luncheons with her many friends, exercising at Meadowbrook Pool and preparing sandwiches for the homeless.
She is survived by her children Diane F. Gardner, Richard L. Frechin of Littleton CO, Douglas P. Frechin, (daughter in-law Karen), Randall J. Frechin, Teresa L. May Frechin, (son in-law Greg), Grandchildren Shawn Crowley, Cindy Maxwell, Heidi Wilson, Jon Frechin, Spencer Topa. Great Grandchildren Caitlin, Aidan, Emma and Jude.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Teresa L. May Frechin and Greg May for their devotion and the selfless care given to mom in their home for the past 6 1/2 years. Thanks to the staff at Park Ridge Skilled Nursing Center for their care and compassion in the last days of mom's life.
A celebration of life memorial is scheduled for Sunday, October 2, 2016, 1-4 PM, Haller Lake Community Club, 12579 Densmore Ave N, Seattle WA 98133. Cremation by Elemental Cremation & Burial, 1100 Dexter Ave N, Seattle WA 98109.

"Uff Da!" Even today, when I say that, I always think of Mom. Today, 11/29/18, she would have been 99 years old.

Dear Grandma,
We will all miss you so much. I hope you're not in pain anymore and I'm praying for you and the whole family. I have many fond memories of playing games, your wonderful cookies, your kind and gentle heart. I remember you so patiently showing me the yummy treat of tortilla with butter, sugar and cinnamon. You were so sweet to us, even though we were a little crazy. We will miss you very much!

We were very lucky to have known your Mom. We fondly remember playing cards, Yatzee, and other games with her while visiting you all in Manzanita, Oregon. She was fun, witty, and good at winning! Mrs. Frechin, it was so joyful to be able to know you during my sister and I's childhood. There is no doubt the influence you had on us enabled us to rise above a dark environment and pursue light and goodness. And the way you raised your son Randy to see broken and hurting people like my sister and I and reach out a hand of help changed our lives forever for good. Forever indebted. See you in heaven.

My Beautiful Mumsy, where do I start?...Words can not begin to describe my love for you. You were the most unselfish person I have ever known. Auntie Gudy was such a sweetheart! She was a loving, beautiful, and kind auntie and sister. Auntie Gudy had us all over for holidays and was a great cook. I will miss her. I'm so sorry for the family's loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember as a child getting up in the morning to go to school. Mom would come into our bedrooms to wake us up. Gentle touch, "Doug, it's time to wake up...."
Tears are running down my cheeks as I write this.
