Knew Haig from his days at Woodland Park Church of God. His family and a small handful of other Armenian families had been assisted in immigration by or pastor Wilbur Skaggs who had been a missionary in Cairo.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Haig from meeting him at the family home to running into him downtown Seattle unexpectedly and giving him a ride home. I did get to know him a little better in the past few years and know he was having a hard time. I know now that he is at peace.

A more full obituary:
Haig Hovsepian was born on March 12, 1949 in Cairo, Egypt and died May 31, 2015, in Seattle, WA.
He emigrated from Egypt with his family reaching Seattle in December 1962. Haig graduated (a year early) from Roosevelt HS in 1966 and then from UW with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1971. He obtained his secondary teaching certificate from EWU in 1972 and became a math/science teacher and a football/track/basketball coach for the West Valley (Spokane) and Kent school districts, and later, the Edmonds school district. His greatest teaching achievement was creating his Juan Atafor curriculum (i.e. how much salary should a .250 batter in baseball earn?) teaching kids to be careful when computing an average from a collection of averages.
Haig had many other jobs and careers during his life, including: paperboy for the Seattle PI and Times, Ice Cream Joe (10 cents each, or 2 for a quarter!), donut baker, insurance agent, land acquisition and development, real estate agent, rental real estate property manager, mortgage broker, paralegal, telemarketer, and he contributed hundreds of hours to the Volunteers of America in their Dispute Resolution Center.
Haig was most proud of his work in creating the Lord's House in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, a zero-tolerance clean & sober house providing affordable housing for men with troubled pasts, and more importantly, an environment supporting an addict's 12 steps of recovery.
Haig loved to find real estate bargains, eschewed hypocrisy of any type, was good at telling stories which usually ended in laughter, and loved to analyze and enjoy televised sports of all types. He was generous and hospitable and gathered his friends and family every Sunday afternoon for two years before his death to enjoy the Seattle Seahawk's runs to the Super Bowl. He is now in the presence of his Savior, and leaves behind a son, mother, 2 brothers, 1 niece, 4 nephews, as well as many friends.
