Ida Brown Obituary

Ida May Brown

Ida May Brown passed away peacefully Thursday, January 10, 2019, at the age of 92. She was born May 10, 1926, to Gus and Fay Erickson. Siblings Alfred, Wilfred, Roberta and Ida May grew up on Cottage Lake. They attended Woodinville and Bothell schools and Woodinville Methodist Church. Ida May married Stephen J. (Bus) Brown August 25, 1945. They settled in Woodinville and had daughter Gail in 1949 and son Eric in 1952. In 1958, the family built a house on property where Bus's grandparents had lived. Ida May created a lovely home and embraced farm life. She was active in church ministries, Children's Orthopedic Hospital guild, and bridge club. She truly loved people. Guests received a warm welcome, enjoyed delicious meals, and were warmed by a cozy fire. Ida May lived her faith, honoring God in her words and actions. She was faithful, loving, kind, and generous, and she had a great sense of humor. She encouraged and loved well, appreciating every visit and hug. Every weekday morning, Ida May, Virginia Gibbs and Isabelle Olson met at the pool to swim, followed by coffee at Starbucks. In 2015 Ida May and Bus moved to Oak Harbor. The Methodist Church, swimming friends, and Regency residents welcomed them with open arms. Bus and Ida May celebrated their 70th anniversary in August 2015, and Bus passed away October 10, 2017. The family is deeply grateful to Regency and Hospice for the loving care they received. Ida May is survived by daughter Gail (Rick) Stewart in Oak Harbor; son Eric Brown in Bellingham; grandchildren Jake (Tanya) Stewart with Connor, Cassidy, and Cole of Kamas, UT; Matthew (Zena) Brown with Ellie and Jack in Allentown, PA; Lisa (Eric) Sieberson with Audrey and Maya in Seattle, WA. Gifts may be sent to Children's Orthopedic Hospital and Whidbey Health Hospice. A memorial service will be held Feb. 2, 2019, 2:00 pm at the Woodinville Community Church, 17110 140th Ave. NE, Woodinville.
