John Hulse Obituary

John Edward Brice Hulse

John Edward Brice Hulse, age 97, passed away August 31, 2016 in Seattle. He was born to Ethel George Brice Hulse and Leroy Lafayette (Roy) Hulse in Center, Missouri on July 4, 1919 near a farm his ancestor Benoni Brice bought in approximately 1820. Brice spent most of his school years in Tarkio, Missouri, a town he spoke of fondly for the rest of his life. He met Barbara Algie Burns in 1938 in Kansas City. Their courtship was interrupted for over three years by World War II. Brice served in the 653rd Topographic Engineer Battalion as a cartographer, mainly in India and China. He moved to Seattle shortly after the war and Barbara joined him on April 11, 1947. They were married the day she arrived and spent the following 62 years together until her passing in 2009. Brice worked for some years for the City of Seattle until joining the North Coast Chemical Company in 1956 where he became an owner and stayed until his retirement in 1987. In retirement, Brice and Barbara spent many happy years cruising the San Juan Islands and British Columbia in their 32 foot Grand Banks and exploring North America from coast to coast and from Guatemala to the Arctic Ocean in their RV.

Brice is survived by his son Brian Hulse (Julia Paden) and grandchildren Brice and Eleanor Hulse. Brice requested to be privately remembered. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, Bellevue.

Sorry that I did not know the father but I knew the son and I'm sure that the father must have been duly proud of raising such an upright and intelligent person. Sorry for your loss.
