I miss John and Doreen,
his sweet lass,
In our three-times-
a-week yoga class.
He was kind,
she was funny,
On dark days
they brought sunny.
I miss their bright
cheer now. Alas!

I am so sad to learn of Brady's passing and my heart goes out to Doreen and the rest of their family. I had been teaching him yoga over the last several years (with Doreen also attending more recently) and always really appreciated the warmth, generosity and humor both he and Doreen brought to our classes. I enjoyed witnessing Doreen's bright smile and easy laughter along with Brady's clever and compassionate engagement with us. Such sweet, kind and open spirits! I'm so glad to have gotten to know them.

Doreen, having missed the Parkinson support group in Nov. I did not know of Brady's death until our group meeting this week. My heart goes out to you and you family. I have really enjoyed having you as part of the support group and will miss you. Blessings as you learn to live in this time without Brady.

I also learned of Brady's passing recently, and was saddened by the news...
My wife and I did not know Brady or Doreen very well... we met through a yoga class for people with Parkinson's. Our Wednesday class had just started up and Brady and Doreen were regulars. It was a small group, but that was what made it special. Brady had an infectious smile, never complained and gave his all in every exercise. what made this all the more remarkable was that his Parkinson's was also further along than the rest of us. I can imagine the effort it took for the both of them to even get to class, never mind actually doing the yoga!
It is hard to express what his attitude and presence in class meant to fellow Parkinson's folks like myself... anxious about what the future holds, and looking for reasons for hope. He probably never knew what an inspiration he was to the rest of us.
Both Doreen and Brady made me realize how people can have a profound effect on each other, simply by setting an example. Brady did just that, with grace, courage and a smile.

I am so sad to learn just tonight about Brady's death. I did not know him during his active teaching years, but only during his retirement---and mine. I was pleased to read the testimonials from his students. To quote Geoffrey Chaucer, "Gladly would he learn, and gladly teach." Brady and I met as fellow pilgrims on the Parkinson's trail. I loved the guy: gentle, kind, thoughtful. funny, poetic. I challenged him once to a limerick contest, and he won! I was touched by his devotion to his lovely wife Doreen and his deeply-felt gratitude for her devotion to him. Brady, may you travel far now that you are disencumbered of your P-wracked body. Doreen, thanks for being so good to so good a man. Pete

A true man for others. What a great legacy he has left Seattle Prep, in the thousands of students he taught and touched with his warmth, genuine love of teaching and kindness. Heaven just got even better.

As a very wise man once said, only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile. What a great teacher & such a nice man - I'll always remember Brady Twohy as a beacon of calmness at Prep during the 1970's. My condolences to his family.

Brady Twohy was one of the best teachers I have ever had and was an even better person. His warmth and kindness were evident to all and even managed to penetrate the self-absorption of a bunch of high school sophomores. I am a better person for having known him. My condolences on his passing. Michael Celio, Seattle Prep '90

I met Brady when he was a Scholastic at Seattle Prep and I was a student (1961-1965). His confident, competent, graceful manner was plenty for me to remember him by now. Thirty years later Stony Mountain (Brady) and Tiger Lily (Eileen) and later Little Bear (Barbara) joined our Makah Indian Princess Tribe. We shared many experiences and warmed ourselves at each others' fires in the Mountains for many years. We are all lucky for the pieces of Brady we got. I will miss him much and forever. Opensky

What a beautiful tribute to Brady! I will always feel honored to have known Brady and to have had him in my life. He taught my husband, two or three of my brothers, my sister and my niece during the years he spent at Prep, and remained a close friend of our family over the years. We will miss him very much. My condolences to Doreen, Melanie, Eileen, and Barbara. I know how much Brady loved you and cared for you; it showed in his actions and words. Thank you for sharing him with our family.

Mr. Twohy was my Collegio teacher freshman year at Prep. He was assigned to read my journals...he was so kind and thoughtful in his responses to a very young woman trying to negotiate first crushes and friendship troubles. He will always hold a special place in my heart and I am so sad to hear of his passing. Blessings to his family during this difficult time.
