Joseph Marvin Zabinsky

Joseph Marvin Zabinsky, age 91,

died on August 28, 2015 at his apartment in Bellevue, Washington. Joe is survived by Steve Zabinsky (son), Zelda Zabinsky (daughter), John Palmer (son-in-law), Micky Ryan (daughter-in-law), and by his grandchildren, Aaron Palmer and Rebecca Zabinsky and her husband Jon Hsu.

Joe was born on July 31, 1924, and graduated in 1950 from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a master's degree in aeronautical engineering. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees on the GI bill, after serving in the Army Air Corp in the South Pacific during World War II. Joe met his wife, Helen, while in college, and they married on Jan 25, 1949. They were married for 62 years, when Helen passed away in 2010. Joe worked for Bell Aircraft as an engineer from 1950-1961, specializing in vertical take-off and landing jets. Joe and Helen, and their three children Steve, Zach and Zelda, moved to Bellevue in 1961, where Joe worked at Boeing as an aeronautical engineer until he retired in 1990. Joe and his family enjoyed skiing, camping, windsurfing, and he was an avid bridge player.

Memorial services will be held at Temple B'Nai Torah on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd, at 2:00 pm: 15727 NE 4th Street Bellevue, WA 98008; (425) 603-9677.
