Joyce Roloff Obituary

Joyce Peterson Roloff

Joyce Peterson Roloff, 86, passed away on Nov 28, 2012 in her home in Edmonds.

Joyce was born in Wapato, WA on Sept. 13, 1926 to Arthur & Etta Peterson. Following WWII, she attended the University of Washington where she met her future husband Raymond Charles Roloff. They married in Dec 1947. After graduation Joyce worked briefly at Harborview before taking time off to raise three children.

Joyce returned to the University of Washington to earn a master's degree in librarianship in 1966. That year she began working as a librarian for the Shoreline School district. She continued in the vocation she loved until her retirement in 1994.

Joyce was an avid traveler. She was a prolific photographer and particularly enjoyed seeing animals in the wild. She visited the Galapagos, Antarctica, Borneo, the Amazon, as well as numerous game preserves in Africa. Many a night she regaled her friends and family with stories and slides of her trips to exotic locales.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Charles Roloff in 1995. She is survived by her daughter Diane Anderson, her sons Craig and Mark, and her sister Karen Lawton.

Visitation will begin at 10 am on Fri. Dec 7 at Beck's Funeral Home in Edmonds. A memorial service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow at the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery.

Remembrances can be made in Joyce's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.

My sympathies and warm thoughts to Joyce's family. I remember her from the days she worked at Kellogg Middle School, a valuable member of our staff. I'm glad she had such a rich life even after her retirement.
