Katharine Shoemaker Obituary
Surrounded by loved ones, Katharine Ann Shoemaker, 72, of Redmond died on November 18, 2017 of cancer. "Kathy" is survived by two daughters, Lee Ellen Culverwell and Leslie Blaine Shoemaker and three grandchildren, all living in Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Burch and Marian Ada Black and the father of her children, Clyde Franklin Shoemaker.
Kathy was a graduate of both Shoreline High School and the University of Washington with a master's degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. After an adventurous career teaching school in British Columbia, American Samoa, Alaska and Micronesia, she retired in 2010 from the Arlington School District to fully enjoy family, friends, travel and the TELOS retiree program at Bellevue College.
Her smile, her laugh and her sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be
held at 1:00, December 2 at
11315 Trilogy Parkway NE, Redmond

Kathy is a bright, shiny star. I knew her to be a true intellectual -- a person who loves ideas. I knew her to be courageous, independent, tolerant, and kind. She was an artist, too-- her home was stunningly beautiful. Long may she shine!

Shirley, Bill..I hope you remember how special your sister was to me. Seems like a hundred years ago. Both of you and Kathy along with your folks were part of a special experience I'll never forget. As you know Kathy and I took different paths in life but never really lost sight of each other. Lee, Leslie, she had some lovely thoughtful things to say about you both. She adored you both. It's a sad time for all concerned and she will be missed. Jeff
