Keith Allen Obituary
Keith F.S. ALLEN Keith Faulkner Shea Allen, 70, long-time employee of The Seattle Times and owner of a Ballard print shop (Pelican Press, Inc.), died of cancer on Feb. 7. Born on Sept. 16, 1941, in Seattle, Keith graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959, attended Western Washington University in Bellingham and the University of Washington where he worked for The Daily. In 1965 he was hired by The Seattle Times, where he worked as a desk editor in the sports department until resigning in 2001. In 1972, Keith became the owner of Pelican Press, where he worked until a week before he died. Keith is survived by his wife of 32 years, Donna Allen; a daughter, Katie Allen (partner Alex), sons Jesse Allen (partner Julia) and Terrell Allen; three grandchildren; sister Carol Smith; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brother Bruce Allen. A memorial event to remember Keith will be held at 11 a.m. June 16, 2012 at St. John United Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 5515 Phinney Ave. N. Sincere condolences to all of the family from a longtime Keith F.S. Allen co-worker in the Sports Dept. Did not receive word of his death until April because I've been in Arizona, sans computer, all winter. Now headed for Alaska for the summer so will miss the memorial gathering (and might well not have a computer up north, either).
No matter how hectic it got on deadline at Fairview Fannie, and it often did, Keith managed to keep calm during the storm. Either that or he faked it well.

I was sorry to hear of Keith's passing. I was flooded with memories of the 70' at the print shop or lifting one at the Knarr. Condolences to Donna and the family. Rest in peace old friend.

Aunt Donna,
I was so sad to hear about Keith's passing. I have been thinking about all of the great qualities that he had that made him such a wonderful man. He was such a kind, gentle soul. His giggle made me smile from ear to ear. I enjoyed watching him and Dad behave like boys. I remember Dad just laughing out loud when he would think about what gag gift he was giving Keith for Christmas, and imagining how Keith would outdo him with his gift. I loved watching the two of them "discussing" issues Allen style, over a good bottle of red wine. Keith was certainly a special man, and will be missed by all. If you need us, just pick up the phone. I Love you Uncle Keith! Such a great man always bringing fun to our family.. My father and he were fun just like two young brothers, shooting off rockets at family events, buying each other toys and despite their successes always being fun and enjoyable to be around. Donna - Keith was a wonderful guy to work with and it was sad to learn we have lost him. The fact that he worked up until days before his death is totally in character. He was quiet, competent, funny and good under pressure. A true newspaperman. My thoughts are with you.

To Keith's Family, I sometimes read the Sunday obits and was saddened to see Keith's photo in yesterday's Times. We worked together as copy boys at The Times in the late 50's. Even then, he had a printing press, and sold me some personal note sheets with my name. I remember him as a person of intelligence and a wry sense of humor. I send my best wishes to his entire family at this time of loss.

Donna, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Uncle Keith was a "fun" uncle! I remember riding in his big convertible, back in the day, as he sped up the hill making me worry that we were going to "crash" right into the road!
