This gentle, kind, generous and curious man will be so missed by all of my family. Lowell's capacity to humbly listen to anyone, while knowing so much about the world, will remain fixed in my mind; he shared tip-of-the-iceberg experiences but had so much depth of knowledge and a quality of thought. A pillar of intelligence, rigueur, and a model of practicing what one believes.
My love and support to the entire Ericsson family.

Lowell embodied a life well-lived, a generous soul and wise ABRF elder. I first met Lowell when he was in Ken Walshs lab, and later, working with him in ABRF. His contributions to protein science are significant, wide-ranging and his scientific legacy. But his kindness, inclusivity and unfailing optimism remain his enduring legacy. Lowell established the welcoming culture of ABRF. We are better people to have known him.
My sincere condolences to Nancy and children for your loss.

I learned peptide mass spectrometry from Lowell in 1996, and I've worked in proteomics ever since. I had the pleasure of working with Lowell at both the University of Washington and at Amgen, attending both of his retirement parties. Lowell was a warm, positive, encouraging spirit. I fondly remember hearing about his incredible vacations and life experiences and catching a little bit of his enthusiasm for science. He was a wonderful fixture in our community and will be greatly missed.

Losing a loved one is never easy, but our loving God promises to give the strength and courage you'll need to endure, and to cope with the pain of your loss. He also promises to hold your hand every step of the way. (Isaiah 40:29, 41:10, 13) May loving memories also sustain your family during this difficult time. Ann Smith

I really was honored to consider Lowell as a trusted colleague and friend over several years while at Immunex. We first met when he was in Ken Walsh's lab at UW and then it was our great privilege to have Lowell join us at Immunex. Lowell was a protein chemist's protein chemist, and was always a treasure of wisdom to rely upon regardless of the problem we were solving. My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Nancy, their children and extended family.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lowell. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure that fills your heart with love and brings you joy. May you find comfort in Jesus promise of the hope of everlasting life at John 6:40.
