Lyle Schug Obituary

Lyle C. SCHUG Lyle C. Schug passed away on November 7, 2004 in Portland Oregon. He was born in Strawberry Point, Iowa on August 17, 1916, the oldest child of Earnest Schug and Lydia Hoyer Schug. He spent his childhood years in eastern Montana, and worked on various ranches as a horse wrangler and ranch hand. Lyle married Margaret Klopp in Seattle on November 7, 1938 and celebrated 65 years of marriage until Margaret's passing on June 2, 2003. He worked as a carpenter for many years throughout the western United States and in the Seattle School District until he retired in 1978, as a proud member of the carpenter's union. Lyle used his carpenter skills to help many family members, neighbors and friends over the years building cabinets, boxes, picnic tables, anything out of wood, and remodeling projects of all kinds. His three children, Madeline Olson, Ken Schug, and Ron Schug survive him. He also leaves his brother, Wayne Schug and sister Wanda Schug, as well as five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Lyle taught his children the importance of hard work, dedication, and honesty. He and Margaret traveled throughout the United States in their motor home after retirement and settled in Meridian Idaho until Margaret's passing. Lyle then moved to Portland, Oregon to live near his daughter Madeline. At Lyle's request no funeral services will be held; his remains were sent to Boise Idaho to be placed along side his loving wife Margaret at the Cloverdale Memorial Park. The family extends our sincere thanks at the staff at Hopewell house in Portland, OR. Memorials in Lyle's name can be sent to Hopewell House at 6171 SW Capital Hwy, Portland, OR 97239.

My Dad will be remembered as a hard working dedicated man. He always tought us that the only way to acheive anything was to roll up your sleeves and go to work. He did things his way, the only way he could.

I tried to pass this work ethic on to my two sons and now my oldest son will pass it on to his two sons. This may not appear to be much of a legacy until you think about it. Hard work has made us who we are and has and will last for many generations. For this I thank my Father, may he rest in peace.

There never seems to be enough time...time gets cut short too soon. We will miss you and you will always be in our hearts. We love you. My fondest memories of Grandpa include the "wooden sword". My brother and I would play for hours and hours with the two swords our Grandpa crafted by hand. It is amazing how the simplest things in life can stay with you for all time. We will always have our memories...

Grandpa, I just want to say I miss you and love you. I still have the toybox you made for me so long ago, and now it is my son's. It will always be for me a symbol of the hard work and dedication you exemplified throughout your life.

Sincerely,

Erick
