Mariana Fogg SPANGLER Mariana Fogg Spangler, age 88 and formerly of Newark, DE and Mannington Twp., NJ died May 1, 2011 in Seattle, WA. Born in Salem, NJ, she was a graduate of Salem High School class of 1940, and Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana. Mrs. Spangler worked as a medical technician at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA and for the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. Most recently she worked in Public Relations at the Winterthur Museum, Wilmington, Delaware. She was a member of Salem Monthly Friends Meeting, Salem, NJ; Salem County Historical Society; Salem County branch of the American Association of University Women; Delaware Nature Society; Delaware Art Museum; and former member of the Auxiliary Salem Co. Medical Society. Daughter of the late William H and Anna Ware Fogg, she is preceded in death by husband Ford Clayton Spangler, MD, and brother William Hildreth Fogg of Santa Clara, CA. She is survived by her 2 sons, Laurence Craig Spangler, Seattle, WA and William Fogg Spangler, Salem, NJ; a daughter, Nancy Ellen Spangler, Seattle, WA; one granddaughter, Tukwila Zimmerman and one grandson, Elijah C. Spangler, both of Seattle, WA. A Celebration of Mariana's life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2-4 p.m. at the Activity Center of Evergreen Court West, 11339A 8th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA 98125. Internment will be in the Salem Friends Burial Grounds, Salem, NJ. Mrs. Spangler has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Salem Monthly Meeting, Religious Society of Friends, Salem, NJ.
