Marjorie Carlisle Obituary

Marjorie Carlisle

Marjorie Ruth Carlisle passed away peacefully on October 7, 2012 in Seattle, WA. Born May 3, 1928 in Yakima, WA to Maude and George Carlisle, Maggie eventually settled in Seattle where she lived most of her life, graduating from Holy Names Academy and Seattle University.

Maggie was an only child and never married but her "family" of friends and loved ones reaches far and runs deep. She was fun, funny, silly, caring, positive, spontaneous and giving. She was open-minded to all people regardless of color, sexual orientation, ethnicity or cultural background. She enjoyed the occasional pinot grigio or two, and even lighted up the rare cigarette. These seem to have been her only vices, and yet she was the life of every party and the keystone of every gathering.

Maggie loved music (especially opera, and very especially Verdi and Puccini) and sang in musicals at Seattle University. She loved her pets as family members. She loved parties, and she loved to travel. In fact she traveled around the world on her own as a young woman (virtually unheard of in those days) in preparation for a successful career in the travel industry. Her stories of her myriad adventures kept us rolling with laughter on many occasions. Maggie loved many things, but most of all, she loved all the people in her life.

Maggie leaves a lasting legacy of wisdom, wit and kindness for those lucky enough to have had her in their lives. We will miss you, dear Maggie. Happy journeys.

"Miss Maggie" is survived by many friends and family who were loved and enriched by this extraordinary woman.

Special thanks go to Faerland Terrace Assisted Living and Alzheimer's Care. In lieu of flowers please give to the Seattle Humane Society. Service to be announced at a later date.
