Matt was my substitute father my senior year of high school while my dad was away. He taught me so much about life, fun and work. As Julie said so perfectly, wow his smile would light a room. I am forever grateful to him for the guidance he gave me. He still makes me smile.

My dear Matt. Words can not express how deeply you are missed. Feelings can not express how dearly you are loved. You encouraged people to strive for more by your example. Your smile lit up a room, and many hearts. Knowing you has made me a better person. Being loved by you is a gift so precious, I will forever be grateful. Thank you, for choosing to share your life with me. Every day for the rest of my life, I will have you with me, in my heart and soul. I love you always. Your wife, Julie

When we think of faithfulness....a friend, spouse, brother, uncle, son comes to mind...this was Matt.
My deepest sympathy to Matt's mom, brothers, sister-in-laws, nephews, niece, and most of all his wife. I have never met you, but you must be one very special lady to have captured Matt's heart.
I met Matt at the Tyee 21 years ago. He had brought so much happiness into my life! His passion of life, sports and family made him so fun to be around. Although I have not seen or talked to Matt in the last 18 years he will be greatly missed. His hand print will be forever on my heart.
I pray for all of you to have Gods love & hands wrap your hearts at this time. The memories of Matt will keep him alive in everyone's hearts.

As my father used to say..."You are a gentlemen and a scholar and a good judge of Whiskey!" Matt and I used to laugh about that saying...I know he was a favorite of many people here in River Creek. He will be missed, greatly!
I am so sorry for his family, though I didn't know them personally, my prayers and kind thoughts are with them at this time.

I only knew Matt from playing ball against him back in high school but I remember what a great athlete and competitor he was. I knew when he pitched against us (MPHS) we were in for a tough day at the plate. He was one of those guys who you could see that his friends and teammates just fed off of his energy. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, may the good memories you have of Matt help you through this very difficult time.

First I would like to express my condolences to the Trolson family and Julie. Although I only met Julie once I have known Matt my entire life. Growing up I always looked up to Matt as a great athlete. In my teen years I worked both with and for Matt at the Tyee Hotel. He was always a great guy to work with and always treated me with respect – even though I was a punk teenager. Matt's true character really showed when he came to work for me as the Food and Beverage Director at the Camlin Hotel. My only hesitation in hiring him was wondering how he would react to working for the “punk kid” that once worked for him. Matt proved to be extremely humble, loyal, and did an exceptional job. I think his favorite part of the job was that the offices we had were converted guest rooms so he had a shower in his office that he could use after his mid-day run. I will always have fond memories of Matt and the different stages of our lives we shared. He will be missed.

Matt - you left an indelible mark on my life that can't be removed. Our time together in Hawaii last year was an experience that few people are blessed enough to enjoy. I will miss you my friend; your humor, your laughter, your zest for life and the pursuit of a good time made you the one in a million friend!
Julie – words can't translate the feelings of sorrow and empathy I have right now. You brought him in our life; I loved him from the beginning. My heart hurts for you and what you're going through, but you're not alone. We are all connected in ways few can understand. I love you and your (our) family. Always here for anything you need.

Dear Trolson family, I'm so very sorry for the loss of your dear Matt. I have so many wonderful memories of him and over the years have cherished them, but now even more so. That dear boy saw something in this silly girl and he became my high school sweetheart. It all started when the football team and cheerleaders had a pre-season party/potluck at my family's house in August 1979 and somehow or other Matt ended up kissing me in my closet. Not sure how we ended up in there, but we were both kind of shy around eachother, so I guess that's what it took. My heart is broken and I will miss him every day. Much love, Sarah (Hall) Andrich
