Mike Y. Nakata

Mike Y. NAKATA Passed away March 1, 2004 at age 86. A resident of Magnolia Home Care for four years, Mike's health had been in severe decline for some time. Born Dec. 4, 1917 in Everett, WA., he attended now defunct Broadway H.S. in Seattle and obtained an MBA from the Univ. of Washington. He worked as an accomplished welding engineer at Boeing for 17 years and later at Todd Shipyard until his retirement. Interned at Minadoka Relocation Camp in Idaho during WWII. He was a pioneer in the redress movement for Japanese-American wartime internees. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth, some 18 years earlier, one of seven children, he is survived by his son, Ken, daughter Jane Husmillo, sisters Chiyo Horiuchi and Teru Kiyohara, and five much loved grandchildren.
