Morris Jaffe Obituary

Morris JAFFE Longtime Tacoma resident passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 2nd. He was born in Seattle on June 9, 1920 to Fanny and Benjamin Jaffe. He attended Garfield High School and the University of Washington. After proudly serving his country in World War II, he returned to Seattle where he met his loving wife, Edith Brodsky of Tacoma. He and Edith moved to Tacoma, where he joined his father-in-law, Phil Brodsky operating Brodsky's Uniforms. Over the next five decades, he, along with Edith and his sons Steven and Jerry oversaw the daily operations of the family business. Morrie was a passionately involved family man, avid local sports fan, and above all, had a shining sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven L. Jaffe, brother, Harry Jaffe, sister, Yetta Shapiro and nephews Gary Shapiro and Dr. Charles Maier. In addition to Edith, he is survived by his daughter, Sandi and Kevin Rowe of West Richland, Susan Jaffe of Vancouver, B.C. and Jerry and Janni Jaffe of Newcastle. The pride and joy of his life were his grandchildren, Brian, Joel, Stephanie, Stephen and Nicole, along with his adoring dachshund, Rosie. His smile will continue to light the lives of all those who loved him forever. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 4th at The Home of Peace, 5421 Steilacoom Blvd, Lakewood, WA at 1:00 PM. Arrangements made by Gaffney Funeral Home. Our family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Saul Rivkin and his incredible staff for their loving care and support. Donations can be make to Temple Beth El of Tacoma or The Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer.

Uncle Moe was sweet, gentle, kind and "cool." He taught me about uncle/nephew love, about the importance of family and how to keep your center no matter what. He called me "sport" and I can see him smile as he said it every time. He looked good in a tan and made me proud to be a Jaffe. He also gave me cool cousins and super aunt. He will be missed.

Morris you were a very kind soul and had a warm sense of humor. I enjoyed coming into your store just to visit you my friend. Thank-you and your family for all the years you took care of Tacoma's police officers.
