Raymond Freeman Obituary

Raymond C. FREEMAN Jr. Of Redmond, WA passed away peacefully on July 25, 2009, after a courageous 2 year struggle. Ray was born in Seattle on July 31, 1932. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950, enlisted in the Armed Forces in 1952, served with the Alaska Communication System, and was discharged in 1960. Ray retired as Director of Airline Analysis for Africa, Middle East and Latin America for The Boeing Co. in 1992. Virtually all of his time before being appointed director in Marketing ha d been spent as an analyst supporting the sales activities in Latin America. Ten of those years his principal account responsibility was the Brazilian airlines. All who knew him will remember his stories of people he met in his travels with the company. He truly loved his job! After retirement his passion was the Harstine House and golf. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty, and their three children, Raymond III, Larry and Joyce Karmil, Daughters in-law, Amy and Lee, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. Ray is also survived by his brother Charles, 2 sisters and their husbands, Joan and Donald Wilson, Sally and Mac McClure, and an extremely loving extended family including numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Ray's family and friends were the most important things in his life. Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His quick wit and love of life brought a smile to many a face, sometimes at a most unexpected moment (especially the myriad of doctors and nurses and other caregivers who tended him, to whom we are most grateful!). An Inurnment Ceremony at Acacia Memorial in Lake City, will be held on Friday, July 31, at 1:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service following at 2:30 p.m. at Lake City Presbyterian Church. Reception/celebration will be held at the home of Larry & Lee Freeman. Sign Ray's on-line Guest Book at www.mem.com.

Ray, a true Freeman was always there for others. His way of being quietly supportive of our church where his parents and sisters were/are so much a part, was a source of encouragement. He was there for many special occasions with his smile and humor and positive words. Our deepest sympathy goes out especially to Betty, Joan and Sally and their families. Rev. Bob Nicholson

Was my pleasure to know Ray from the first grade in Mrs Miller's class to the year we spent on Adak. God bless Betty and her family. George Blanchard
