Ruth Emily Vogel

Ruth Emily Vogel was an avid traveler, a devoted mother and a generous soul. She was born in Walnut Creek, CA on October 5, 1954, and died in Seattle, WA on January 9, 2019. Ruth graduated from UPS Law School in 1988, worked as deputy prosecutor in Lewis County, and later assisted many clients through her 22 year Ballard practice. She was a strong advocate for personal estate planning.

Ruth was socially active throughout her life. She worked at NW Adoption Exchange and always promoted human rights. She was a member of Aging Ballard Lesbians (ABLE) and volunteered at the Ballard Senior Center. Ruth liked holidays, family traditions, and playing games such as Yahtzee and bridge. Being a parent was a lifelong dream she fulfilled. She is survived by many family and friends, and her dog Jasmine.

I was saddened to see that Ms.Vogel passed away. She practiced before me for many years. She was always prepared and a vigorous advocate for her clients.

Ruth stuck up for me. She understood me. She made my life better. She helped me down the stairs at her office herself, making me feel comfortable. I was thankful when she came and talked to me at the Storm games. She will truly be missed. I just heard about it today. My thoughts to Helen and PJ, and also Jasmine who accepted me straight away in the office.

Ruth's passing leaves a void in our community. She was generous, strong, compassionate, brilliant and a very bright light. I miss her.

Holding a prayer for Helen and all of Ruth's family and loved ones, that you find peace and comfort in the blessing of her memory.

I was Ruth's advertising rep for 5 years. I loved talking with her in her office. She was funny, witty and her dog Jasmine was always there to greet me. I was totally bummed when I heard the news. The world is a little less brighter without her.

I am so sorry to hear this. Ruth was a comforting presence and strong advocate for me during my divorce. She made sure my will and other estate planning documents were up to date. I was always happy to recommend her to others as I knew she would take of them as well. She will be missed in our community.

You were my political science student, later my lawyer, and always my friend and co-conspirator for freedom and human rights. You earned an A in every way.
