Steven Roraback Obituary

Steven Roger Roraback

Deeply loved and admired husband, father, grandfather, and brother Steven Roger Roraback, 70, peacefully passed away in his Ballard home on Tuesday, November 5th, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born November 9th, 1942 in Seattle, WA to parents Roger and Violet Roraback, Steven was raised in Ballard along with his brothers David, Doug and Scott Roraback. He later married his high school sweetheart Teresa Jensen and raised 5 wonderful children in their farm-like home in Silver Lake near Everett, WA.

Steven retired in 2005 after 43 years as a machinist of unparalleled skill at local companies Hitco, Inc. and Boeing. He loved to be outside in nature, chopping firewood, skiing the nearby slopes, or walking the beach and crabbing out at his Tulalip Shores beach cabin. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is fondly remembered as a rain-or-shine supporter on the sidelines of his children's sporting events, and also was a huge Seahawks

fan. His extraordinary work ethic,

humility, tenacity, gentle disposition, and corny jokes will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Teresa Roraback, and children Erik Roraback, Amy Roraback, Drew Steven Roraback, Chad (Sarah) Roraback, and Jenny (Ryan) Roraback-Carson, grandsons Charlie Steven, Lucas, and William Roraback, granddaughter Clara Rose Carson, and brothers David and Doug Roraback.

In memory of Steve, the family suggests that donations be made to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to support the work of Dr Renato Martins, 1-877-308-3117. Please sign Steve's online Guest Book at www.Legacy.com.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am the former wife of Jerry Henricksen and the mother of Joleen our daughter who passed many years ago. I am so grateful for seeing your column in the times as I have now corrected the spelling of Holly Henricksen, Jerry's Mom. I have gotten into geneology and find myself with many corrections on spellings. God Bless

Dear Terri,
I'm sending my love to you and your family. As a young teacher I looked forward to having a Roraback in my classroom. You and Steve were wonderful parents and it showed in your children. Thank you for letting me spend a little time with them and with both of you. Give Erik, Amy, Drew, Chad, and Jenny a hug from me.

Dear Roraback Family,
I was sad to learn of Steve's passing. I have good memories of my uncle Steve and was always glad to see him. I remember watching him build your Silver Lake home over the years, and my visits to this house to see the farm animals around the property. I value the time I got to spend with him cutting and hauling fire wood to various locations. I'm glad we had many opportunities to visit and share our thoughts on the world at the numerous Roraback family gatherings. I respected him very much and feel that his hard work, family values, and friendly demeanor had a real impact on me in my formative years. These are attributes I strive to emulate to this day. I'm sorry he did not have more time in this life.

Though we have been away from the Ruggs Loop Road area for 27 years, we remember the Rorabacks and just the good feeling emanating from their house. That was love, and leadership by the parents! I don't think I ever met Steven, but I know he must have been special, because Amy was! She knocked on our door, and offered to babysit as a job, not even knowing us. Now, that was probably supported by her dad and mom. The legacy of responsibility and love is evident in Steven Roraback's beautiful obituary. Good-bye to a good neighbor, long ago. I am so sorry, Teresa - and family.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of such a special man. I have been lucky enough to know your family for many years now, and have seen how this quiet, incredibly sincere man has helped shape the dynamic of your family in such a special way. He fought a good fight the last few years, certainly having ups and downs. In that time, though, he got to continue to see what wonderful people his kids have become, enjoy the days with his grandkids, and share these ultimate joys with his family and his wonderful wife and best friend. I know he will be dearly missed by many. Sending you all my love.

Roraback and Family - those words have always seemed synonymous in my mind. I know how much you all love each other and how you cherish family traditions. I know it will be hard in the days and years ahead to continue with such a huge missing link, but the precedent Steve has set for the importance of family time together will hopefully keep you holding each other close and relishing the new memories you will make. I saw Steve always as a loving and very proud father and I saw the family step up and care for him when he needed it most. What a blessing you have all been for each other.
All my love and prayers,

Mick Roraback
