Thomas James Hoagland

Thomas James Hoagland, 56, passed away on January 25, 2018. He was surrounded by family and close friends before passing away peacefully. Tom was born and raised in Seattle; he graduated from Shorewood HS in 1979.

Tom was the youngest of 5 children, with 4 older sisters so he was raised in a household of girls and women. Tom really didn't want 4 "junior mothers" nagging him at every turn, but he put up with it as best he could.

Tom most recently worked at Mercury Pharmacy where he enjoyed many years of loyal service. Tom was also an avid sports fan, most notably the Seahawks. He was not a fan of the coaching staff or when they played poorly but he always believed in them.

He also enjoyed garden projects, exotic plants, and golf. Tom doted on his nieces and nephew and loved nothing more than getting down on the floor or lawn to play, chase balls or swim with them in the pool.

Tom endured many years of health challenges but throughout it all he maintained a positive attitude and a wonderful sense of humor. If you were ever on the receiving end of his signature caustic wit it meant he loved you deeply, you just may not realize it at the time :-)

Tom is preceded in death by his mother Nancy, father Floyd, and sisters Sally and Ann. He is survived by his siblings, Catherine Hoagland, Nancy Hughes (Randy), and Mary Hoagland (Alex Kutsick); his nieces Heather Hansen (Dan), Jessica Harrison (Cole), Molly Kutsick, Alexa Hughes and nephew Lucas Kutsick.

There will be a celebration of Tom's
