Victor Scalzo Obituary

Victor Joseph SCALZO Victor Joseph Scalzo, 89, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2009. Victor was born in Seattle, Washington on November 15, 1919 to Thomas and Florence Scalzo. As a lifetime member of the Seattle Community, he attended St. Mary's School, O'Dea High School and University of Washington. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Second World War. He began his career in highway construction at an early age following in his father's footsteps. Along with his brother's Joseph and Robert, Victor owned and operated the family business, Thomas Scalzo Construction Company. His life's' work still stands in local freeways, highways and airports. He served as President of Associated General Contractor (AGC) of Washington. He was a longtime member of Overlake Golf and Country Club and Meyenbauer Bay Yacht Club. He enjoyed hunting, boating and baseball. He is survived by his wife Rosemary Gai Scalzo, his three children Marlene Miller (John), Steve Scalzo (Angela), and Debora Centioli and brother Robert Scalzo. Seven grandchildren, John Miller (Sally), Crissey Miller, Alicia Wilmoth (Jon), Shelley Brown (Chris), Annemarie Scalzo, Lauren Centioli, Cicilia Centioli. Two Great-grandchildren, Johnny and Jamie Miller and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph and sister Theresa Scalzo Gai. The family would like to thank his Doctors and Caregivers for their support and comfort. A Private Service will be held in his honor. Remembrances can be made to O'Dea High School or AGC of Washington Education Foundation Fund, 1200 Westlake Ave N., Suite 301, Seattle, Wa 98109.

I was a family friend of the Scalzo’s during the mid to late 1950s and early 1960s. I remember Mr. Scalzo as a very loving husband and father. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Scalzo, Marlene, Steve and Debora.
