I know George through the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church. We served on Session together as Elders. I learned to respect George for his wisdom, his clarity of mind and purpose, his caring heart, and his ability to listen and learn himself. And then I had the privilege of knowing him and watching he and his wife Edwina through a snapshot of their journey through living with liver cancer. George and Edwina are such role models, 'hero's' in showing us all how to 'live our lives'. God bless and keep you George and hold Edwina, their children and grandchildren in your comforting arms.

I knew George Bassett as "Uncle George" and remember him dancing and doing the polka, engaging in some great political discourse and drinking a good beer with the young guys at family get togethers. Go Blue!

I only knew George from serving on jury duty with him several years ago. He relished being on the jury and became our foreman not only because he knew the law but because he was such a fine gentle man. I am sure his family will miss him terribly. If I can speak for all the jurors on our case, we will all miss him. Sandor Toth (Seattle)

I also graduated in 60 with George. He would have known me as Mary Patefield. He was special in so many ways. He never forgot my name and we saw him on the street in Mercer one time(fat from home for us) and he called me by name to get our attention. Great Guy! Mary Lloyd, Enterprise, FL

I too was a classmate of George's at JHS class of 1960. Even tho it would be years between each meeting, he always made me feel like he was truly glad to see me. I always knew he would be a success at whatever he did. I am very sorry that he has passed on, but we know he is in God's loving surroundings now. Peace and love to his family.

George would have remembered me Susie Cramer and we went all the way through school together. So happy to have seen him at some of our JHS reunions. He was an outstanding man. I married Pete Mortlock whom I'm sure he knew also as he graduated with us. We are so very sorry for your loss. May your memories bring you peace.
