William Bayard Obituary

William C. Bayard

Born 8/26/1925 Seattle, WA

Died 11/4/2013

A Shoreline resident for 57 years he is survived by his wife Mary of 64 years, children Susan, Anne (Mike), David (Cindy), Katie (Ken), & Alison (Mark), 12 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren.

A WW II veteran, he was a member of The Greatest Generation. He earned his Master's degree at the University of Washington and went on to be an educator in the Shoreline school district for 30 years. He participated as Lay reader and in the Vestry at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church. Dad had a passion for helping others serving as a couple's counselor, literacy advocate, and a ten year hospice volunteer. He loved to travel and enjoyed time in Europe, but his favorite place was always on Decatur Island. Bill had an incredible sense of humor, was a great sounding board, and always took the time to listen.

His greatest treasures were his family and friends. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, and doting grandfather. He will be sorely missed, we love you Dad.

Celebration of life will be held 11/17/13 at 3:00 pm, Country Village Courtyard. Memorial donations can be made to: Literacy Source or Providence Hospice.

My husband and I are in our 41st year of a happy, and blessed marriage thanks in large part to Bill's gentle counseling many years ago. We are so grateful for his guidance and I think of him often. And Anne, you were the catalyst. Thank you seems inadequate. Our sincerest condolences.

Every day I look out my window across the street to The Bayard's house and feel lonesome for them. It has meant so much to have Bill and Mary as our wonderful neighbors and friends. The world isn't right without Bill.Love, Cathy and John Sanders
