Yancy Noll Obituary

Yancy Sean Noll

April 10, 1969 ~ August 31, 2012

Yancy Noll was killed Friday August 31, 2012, in Seattle, while driving home from work in an incident of senseless random violence. Citizens, friends, and work associates are still in shock and disbelief. Yancy left an impression of integrity, warmth and good cheer with everyone he met.

Yancy was born in San Rafael, California, grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and moved to Seattle in the late 1980's. He worked in the wine and restaurant industries for many years. Most recently he was employed with QFC as a wine steward.

Yancy loved the outdoors and joined the Mountaineers where he trained for many hikes and summit climbs, including Mount Rainier. He also enjoyed sea kayaking, running, telemark skiing, biking, playing guitar, and hanging out with his loyal dog, Lola.

Yancy is survived by his girlfriend, Jody Wirtz, his sister, Katrina Noll, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held at the Mountaineers facility, 7700 Sand Point Way NE, (Magnuson Park) on Sept. 16, 3-6pm for Yancy's friends and family. Tributes and stories will begin at 3:30 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established at http://www.gofundme.com/15l7pk which will be used to cover his final expenses. A donation will also be made to the Seattle Mountaineers in Yancy's name.

Yancy,

John and I miss you dearly... The world will have a little less laughter because of you... I know you'll be joining us on our hikes. :)

Yancy, you were a great vintage - a little nutty with a hint of twisted humor and more than a touch of heart. Rest well, my friend. I'll miss you.

Every time I see Rainier in the distance, or go to the coast, or travel in Olympic National Park, I will be reminded of you. Travel well, friend.

Yancy, I will miss my hiking partner, beer-drinking buddy, and best friend. The trails will be quieter without you.

Yancy,
You were like a brother to me. You were kind, loyal, fun, and sometimes a pain in the hiney. I am grateful to have had the fantastic time with you that I have had. You deserved so much more. Very few people invest so much hope and love into the people around them. I hope that is something I can learn from you. I hope you know how special you were.
