Charlotte Pullen Obituary

Charlotte Mahin Pullen was born April 14, 1928 to Guy and Goldie Shull Mahin in LaMonte, MO, the youngest and second daughter of four children. She attended Crystal Springs, a one-room grade school; graduated from college-high school in Warrensburg; and received her bachelor of science in education from Central Missouri State Teachers College (currently known as UCM). She taught in Missouri schools and received her Master's of Art from University of Missouri, at Columbia. In 1954, she married Henry W. Pullen of Clinton, IN. They lived in Danville, IL, where their daughters, Charla Val and Sarah Grace, were born. All moved to Kirkwood, MO in 1966, when Henry received a job teaching at Meramec in St. Louis Community College.

Charlotte did substitute teaching in the Lindbergh and Kirkwood systems. She was an active participant in the ministries of the Webster Groves Christian Church and was the first woman elected as chairman of the official board. She also served on the boards of Webster-Kirkwood's Shepherd's Center and ECHO (Emergency Children's Christian Home). During elections, she served as an adjunct for the St. Louis County Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry W. Pullen; her parents, Guy and Goldie Mahin; her brothers, Clarence and Arthur Mahin; her sister, Laura McCurdy; all from Pettis County, MO. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Dr. Jennifer Montague, of Denver, CO.

She is survived by her daughters Charla Montague and Sarah Whitten (Paul); grandchildren Melody Selby (Justin), Stephen Montague (Wakana), Jeremy Montague, Karen Bruning (Tom), Brenda Brandt (Caleb), Julie Whitten, and Luke Whitten. Sarah, Paul and Luke,
I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom, mother-in-law, and grandmother.
Sarah shared wonderful facts about her mom. It was good that we were able to stories about her before her passing. Feel peace that she is now home with her heavenly Father and family members that have welcomed her home. In sympathy, Betty Btes
