Gene Steele Obituary
He was born February 28, 1962, in Sedalia, son of Wray E. and Cora B. (Lewis) Steele.
Gene will be remembered as a kind-hearted and polite man who was a friend to all. He loved taking his nephews dirt bike racing and camping. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Cora Steele; two siblings, Tony Steele (Helen), and Vickie Fidler (Jeff); a sister-in-law, Diana Steele; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wray Steele; and two brothers, K.C. Steele and Bruce Steele.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Florence, with Rev. Bill Johnson officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Fidler (Alaina), Clayton Fidler (Catherine), Chantz Steele (Sara), Jeremy Handtke (Carolyn), Tyler Steele (Misty), Cameron Fidler (Natasha), Hillary Dulaban (Dusty), and Haley Steele (Sam Stranz).
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Olive Baptist Church or American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
